Tasting Notes:

Gerard Julien

“From two parcels in Comblanchien. Pure, pretty nose of ripe wild strawberry, raspberry and cranberry. There is pleasing concentration from the sapid fruit with a light touch and delicious acidity to balance. A good Bourgogne Rouge.”

Elodie Roy

“The 2022 Bourgogne Rouge Hautes-Cotes de Beaune is a blend from three hectares and represents a selection of the best bunches. It includes 60% whole bunches added into the vat as a millefeuille. The slightly rustic rose offers dark berry fruit, cracked black pepper and touches of graphite. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins. The absence of oak means that this has a kind of rawness that I really like, strangely, for the second time in my tasting, reminiscent of a cool red Loire. Very fresh with a graphite-tinged finish. This will shine on the dinner table.”

“An assemblage of plenty of plots. She makes this just from her best vines and sells the rest in wine. Half whole bunch, all in stainless. July bottled. Pretty lively pink purple, with a very attractive perfumed fresh rose petal nose. Strawberries too. A lovely wine for drinking copiously. Anticipated maturity: 2024-2027. ”
Jasper Morris MW, Nov 2023

Paul Pillot

“Bright palish pink purple. Vibrant cherry fruit a touch of pepper, nothing astringent just fractionally herbal. Just delicious though. Anticipated maturity: 2024-2026.”
Jasper Morris MW, Nov 2022

Bachelet-Monnot

“30% whole cluster. Pure Pinot fruit, wild strawberry red cherry and fine tannin. There is a freshness and lift that keeps the ripe fruit balanced. Lovely.”

Lafouge

“Fruit for this cuvee comes from a plot in Pommard between the D974 and the D973 and next to the Chateau de Pommard. Now in its fourth vintage, it’s a tremendous wine full of bright, ripe and soft fruit with lovely concentration. Blackcurrant, ripe strawberry with velvety tannin and acidity to lift. Hard not to consume the whole bottle!”

Coquard Loison Fleurot

“Just 10% new oak, this had been racked and showed fresh ripe strawberry fruit with a lovely tension. Very well-made Bourgogne Rouge.”
