Vinous 94

Deep, vivid magenta. Mineral- and smoke-accented dark berries, licorice and candied flowers on the highly perfumed nose, along with a cracked pepper nuance that lends spicy lift. Offers densely packed, subtly sweet cherry and blueberry flavors that are supported by an undercurrent of smoky minerality that provides back-end cut. Shows a sexy floral quality on the persistent finish, which is shaped by smooth, harmonious tannins [Josh Raynolds, 18/07/2019]

Bottled in June 2019, the 2017 Cornas Vieilles Vignes still seemed shut down when I tasted it, marked by cedary oak and mixed berry flavors. It’s full-bodied and silky-textured, framed by surprisingly tart acids on the long, crisp finish. Worth noting is that this includes the fruit that normally goes into the les Vieilles Fontaines, as that wine was not bottled in 2017. Tasted twice (once blind), with consistent notes. [16/07/2019]

Before passing away in 2020 at the age of 81, Alain Voge played a leading role in putting the wines of Cornas and Saint-Péray on the map. Having taken over the Domaine at an early age during the 1960s, when much of the vineyards were neglected or used for fruit production, he strove to elevate the family estate to one of the strongest in the Northern Rhône. With 70 plots split over 7 hectares (plus 6 hectares in St Péray), this small Domaine places a focus on producing authentic, aromatic wines. Alongside compatriots Pierre-Auguste Clape, Noël Verset and later Thierry Allemand, Voge did much for the profile and quality of Cornas’s reds during his life. While his three peers have taken on more of a “cult status” when it comes to popularity and pricing, Voge remains remarkably well positioned in the fine wine market given its quality, history, and reputation.

On Order wines are not yet available for delivery, storage or collection as In Stock wines are, and that creates complexities in managing a mixed order in terms of taxes and shipping.

What happens if I purchase On Order  wines?

When you purchase On Order wines, no UK Duty / VAT or shipping costs will be charged at checkout. Once the wines have arrived at our warehouse, a member of the team will be in touch to organise the delivery, storage or collection as per your preferences, and arrange any additional invoicing required.

I want to start collecting wine, where do I start?

We specialise in offering a custom service where one of our expert team can advise you on how to start and what considerations you need to make. You can contact us directly if you have any further questions.

Do you buy wines from small, independent collectors?

James and Michael have had extensive experience in valuing cellars large and small. We will be delighted to offer prices on all wines and we are in a position to buy stock outright or broker wines on a your behalf. We are confident that our prices are amongst the most competitive in the market.

How much is delivery?

We offer free delivery on orders over £500 to addresses in England. For some of our producers from whom we buy directly, the agreement has been put in place that we can only sell these wines to the UK market. On the wines for which this applies, there is a sign saying UK only on the product pages.
