Piedmont
Cecilia Monte
Cecilia Monte took over the family estate, which had belonged to her mother’s side of family for generations, in 2000 after completing her university studies. The estate sits at the Northern end of Barbaresco, in the Cru of Neive, at 300m above sea level, with an extraordinarily beautiful view of the Serracapelli vineyard. The higher altitude and very calciferous, fast draining soils mean that the wines here are characterised by elegance and finesse. This style is also a reflection of Cecilia’s own traditional philosophy, honed working for her long-time mentor Luciano Sandrone, that much of the work to make great wine is done in the vineyard rather than the cellar.
Farming 3.5ha of vineyards and producing around 30,000 bottles a year across 5 wines, Cecilia Monte was the standout discovery when our buying team visited Piedmont recently and we are thrilled to represent her wines in the UK market.

“Cecilia Monte is one of the most intriguing under the radar growers in Barbaresco. Her wines show a light touch and a sense of transparency that is hugely appealing.” - Antonio Galloni 2021
