I retasted the 1999 Hermitage La Chapelle. While it is unquestionably an excellent effort, it is well below the standards of the appellation’s benchmark producers. It requires another 3-5 years of cellaring, and should last twenty-five years, but it will always lack volume and density, and possess a certain austerity. Vinous 93+

Medium-deep red-ruby. Roasted, tarry red fruits, animal fur and chocolate on the nose; as vibrant and vinous as a barrel sample. Extremely lush and concentrated, and already highly aromatic in the mouth, with notes of red and black fruits, roasted nuts, spices, chocolate and tobacco. Beautifully integrated acidity. Finishes very long, with substantial, very fine tannins. A superb vintage for this top Hermitage bottling. [Stephen Tanzer, 01/01/2002]

Why do I need to purchase In Stock wines separately from On Order?

On Order wines are not yet available for delivery, storage or collection as In Stock wines are, and that creates complexities in managing a mixed order in terms of taxes and shipping.

What happens if I purchase On Order  wines?

When you purchase On Order wines, no UK Duty / VAT or shipping costs will be charged at checkout. Once the wines have arrived at our warehouse, a member of the team will be in touch to organise the delivery, storage or collection as per your preferences, and arrange any additional invoicing required.

I want to start collecting wine, where do I start?

We specialise in offering a custom service where one of our expert team can advise you on how to start and what considerations you need to make. You can contact us directly if you have any further questions.

Do you buy wines from small, independent collectors?

James and Michael have had extensive experience in valuing cellars large and small. We will be delighted to offer prices on all wines and we are in a position to buy stock outright or broker wines on a your behalf. We are confident that our prices are amongst the most competitive in the market.

For some of our producers from whom we buy directly, the agreement has been put in place that we can only sell these wines to the UK market. On the wines for which this applies, there is a sign saying UK only on the product pages.
