Vinous 92-95

(these vines are 75 years old, according to Cathiard): Bright, dark red. Subtle aromas of crushed cherry, minerals and smoke verge on liqueur-like. Then creamy-sweet and superrich in the mouth, delivering outstanding plushness and a seamless texture. This very large-scaled wine boasts terrific volume. Finishes with substantial but firm tannins and lingering notes of sweet raspberry and spicy oak. I wanted a bit more complexity and grip for an even higher score: am I underrating this grand cru today? [Stephen Tanzer, 01/01/2014]

Domaine Cathiard requires little introduction to Burgundy lovers after what can only be described as a meteoric rise in this domaine’s popularity over the last decade. Sébastien Cathiard took over from his father in 2011 after gaining experience outside of the Domaine with harvests in Chablis, Bordeaux and New Zealand. Located in Vosne-Romanée and with extensive vineyards in the appellation, Sébastien has really put his stamp on the domaine since taking over, having overseen the construction of a new winery, implementing more rigorous sorting of the grapes, reducing the amount of oak used, and enhancing the structure and complexity of his wines. Domaine Cathiard’s signature style is one of unrivalled depth, complexity and purity of fruit. His wines are full of energy, precision and elegance. We are fortunate to have worked with the Domaine for a number of years and are huge fans of the wines.

On Order wines are not yet available for delivery, storage or collection as In Stock wines are, and that creates complexities in managing a mixed order in terms of taxes and shipping.

What happens if I purchase On Order  wines?

When you purchase On Order wines, no UK Duty / VAT or shipping costs will be charged at checkout. Once the wines have arrived at our warehouse, a member of the team will be in touch to organise the delivery, storage or collection as per your preferences, and arrange any additional invoicing required.

I want to start collecting wine, where do I start?

We specialise in offering a custom service where one of our expert team can advise you on how to start and what considerations you need to make. You can contact us directly if you have any further questions.

Do you buy wines from small, independent collectors?

James and Michael have had extensive experience in valuing cellars large and small. We will be delighted to offer prices on all wines and we are in a position to buy stock outright or broker wines on a your behalf. We are confident that our prices are amongst the most competitive in the market.

How much is delivery?

We offer free delivery on orders over £500 to addresses in England. For some of our producers from whom we buy directly, the agreement has been put in place that we can only sell these wines to the UK market. On the wines for which this applies, there is a sign saying UK only on the product pages.
