Domaine J.A. Ferret is one of the historic reference points for the wines of Pouilly-Fuissé, with a history dating back to 1840. Pouilly-Fuissé has historically been much maligned by collectors, however, there are Domaine’s – such as J.A. Ferret – which have harnessed the specific climate and terroir of this appellation to great effect. The resulting wines compete with some of the equivalent best in the Côte de Beaune, and for a fraction of the price.

- 2020 Domaine J. A. Ferret, Pouilly-Fuissé (£146 per 6bt case IB) – A blend from the Domaine’s many parcels and is a charming, lively and well-balanced Chardonnay, that is both complex and approachable.
- 2019 Domaine J. A. Ferret, Pouilly-Fuissé, Tete de Cru Clos des Prouges (£200 per 6bt case IB) – A single vineyard, 2ha “Clos” situated right in the centre of the village of Fuissé and is planted on a shallow slope that faces east. This cuvée excelled in the warm vintage and benefits from old vines (some over 70 years old), showing ripe citrus, green and white fruit balanced by floral and honeyed notes. This is a wine that will benefit from additional bottle age if you have the patience.
Located in the heart of the most famous ‘climats’ of the Fuissé amphitheatre, Domaine J.A. Ferret was renowned for its parcel-by-parcel vinification, which was pioneered by Madame Ferret, producing rich, muscular, age worthy wines. Since 2008, the Domaine has been owned by Louis Jadot and this traditional method of winemaking continues under the watchful eye of régisseuse, Audrey Braccini. Although Braccini follows a traditional approach, she has evolved the style to now produce fresher, brighter, earlier-harvested interpretations of Pouilly-Fuissé which, according to William Kelley, are “beautifully balanced, intense and engaging, clearly differentiated by site.”
